Well, after poking around on instructables.com and coming across this:

...I decided that I wanted to get me a pressure cooker. I was further interested, once I started researching pressure cookers and discovered the newer, so-called "2nd Generation" pressure cookers that use springs to regulate the pressure, rather than a weight.
I finally settled on a 10 quart Fagor Splendid pressure cooker that I got on amazon.com, along with a cookbook called Pressure Perfect. Cost me about $100 for both, give or take.
Pressure cookers are great! I can cook all sortsa stuff in less time. And yes, I tried the bread baking thing. Works pretty good.
I like soup and our family eats a lot of beans. I also like brown rice and also lentils, but I didn't like the 45 minutes or so that it took to cook either. Brown rice takes about 20 minutes (a bit longer than what the booklet says), lentils maybe 15 minutes.
I used to cook dried beans in the crock pot all day. I recently did a batch of dried chick peas. I did the quick soak method, where you bring 'em to a boil, then let them sit, covered, in the hot water for an hour. I drained 'em, covered them with fresh water and gave them 45 minutes in the PC, and they cooked up just fine.
I have done country style pork ribs, assorted vegatables, potato and cabbage soup...everything cooks fast. I don't have to figure out hours ahead whatinheck I am fixing for dinner.
